ADM Profit Surges as Biofuel Mandates Drive Growth

Archer Daniels Midland is reaping the rewards of aggressive U.S. federal biofuel mandates, reporting a quarterly profit of $821 million. By capitalizing on increased blending requirements for gasoline and diesel, the food-processing giant has outperformed market expectations and raised its full-year earnings guidance for the second time this year.

The company’s third-quarter performance marks a significant turnaround from the $108 million profit recorded during the same period last year. Adjusted earnings reached $1.77 per share, comfortably beating the $1.60 consensus estimate from analysts. While revenue climbed to $22.34 billion, the figure fell slightly short of the $23.27 billion analysts anticipated.

Chief Executive Juan Luciano credited the company’s extensive North American infrastructure for its ability to dominate premium markets in a favorable regulatory environment. This success has prompted management to elevate its full-year adjusted earnings forecast to a range of $5.50 to $5.80 per share. Bolstering these financial gains, the firm also reduced its capital expenditure outlook to between $1.2 billion and $1.3 billion, signaling a tighter grip on operational spending as it navigates the remainder of the fiscal year.
