Watchdog Flags Financial Discrepancies in Stephen Miller’s Disclosures

Stephen Miller, a central figure in the Trump administration’s aggressive immigration enforcement, now faces scrutiny over his own financial paperwork. A report from Public Citizen alleges glaring inconsistencies in his recent disclosures, mirroring the exact type of documentation errors the White House frequently uses to target political opponents and immigrants.

The analysis centers on Miller’s 2025 filings, specifically highlighting discrepancies between his reported stock sales and official certificates of divestiture. Investigators identified at least 10 instances where the reported proceeds from stock sales were significantly lower than the market value of the shares traded on the day of the transactions. One notable example involves MP Materials, where 3,000 shares were valued at a minimum of $223,000, yet Miller reported them in the $50,000 to $100,000 range.

Further concerns involve the custodial accounts for Miller’s three children, which held approximately $1.4 million in August 2025 but showed only minimal cash balances by the end of the year, with no clear record of where the assets moved. Additionally, holdings within his wife’s Individual Retirement Account—including shares of Apple, Alphabet, and Viking Therapeutics—appear to have vanished without any corresponding transaction reports. Public Citizen has submitted these findings to the Office of Government Ethics, arguing that if the administration demands perfect paperwork from others, its own officials must be held to the same rigorous standard.
