Boot Barn Beats Profit Targets but Trims Annual Outlook

Boot Barn Holdings reported a second-quarter profit of $52.5 million, marking a significant jump from the previous year’s $42.2 million. Despite this revenue growth to $581.8 million, the footwear retailer tempered expectations for the remainder of the fiscal year, citing cooling same-store sales projections and tightening income forecasts.

Boot Barn Beats Profit Targets but Trims Annual Outlook

The company’s performance reflects a mixed bag for investors. While same-store sales saw a modest 1.4% increase—bolstered by a 5.2% gain in e-commerce—the broader outlook for the fiscal year has been revised downward. Management now projects revenue between $2.57 billion and $2.59 billion, trailing previous estimates and missing the $2.6 billion target anticipated by Wall Street analysts. Net income is similarly adjusted to a range of $263.6 million to $272 million.

Despite the softened financial guidance, the company is aggressively expanding its physical footprint. Boot Barn raised its target for new store openings to between 75 and 80 locations, up from an earlier plan of 70. To support shareholder value amidst the guidance cut, the board authorized an additional $400 million for share repurchases, bringing the total available buyback capacity to $468 million.
