Walmart and Sam’s Club Merge Memberships to Lure Inflation-Weary Buyers

Shoppers struggling with persistent food and fuel inflation now have a unified path to savings: Walmart and Sam’s Club are bundling their premium memberships for $120 annually. This consolidated price represents a nearly $100 discount compared to purchasing both subscriptions separately, a strategic pivot to deepen customer loyalty amid rising costs.

The combined tier grants access to warehouse shopping, free delivery from both retail chains, and assorted digital perks including streaming subscriptions to Peacock or Paramount+. Subscribers also gain fuel discounts and a 2% cash-back incentive on eligible purchases at Sam’s Club. Current dual-membership holders can link their existing accounts to trigger the price reduction, while the company plans to extend the bundle as a standard benefit to its own workforce.

CEO John Furner framed the initiative as a way to elevate expectations for retail loyalty programs. The move arrives as Walmart aggressively expands its high-margin membership revenue, which climbed 17% globally during the fiscal second quarter. With Sam’s Club membership revenue also posting a 6% gain, the retail giant is betting that a streamlined, cost-effective package will sustain growth as household budgets remain under pressure.
