Mirum Pharmaceuticals Rallies as Liver Drug Hits Phase 3 Targets

A 3.3 percent premarket bump greeted Mirum Pharmaceuticals on Monday after the company reported that its drug, Livmarli, successfully met primary endpoints in a Phase 3 trial for treating cholestatic pruritus. The positive clinical data suggests a breakthrough for pediatric patients suffering from ultra-rare liver conditions.

The study focused on patients aged six months and older, measuring both the relief of itching and the reduction of serum bile acids. Results showed a statistically significant improvement in pruritus compared to a placebo. Furthermore, participants receiving the treatment experienced a 70 percent reduction in serum bile acids from baseline, dwarfing the 3.5 percent result observed in the placebo group.

Chief Medical Officer Rob Myers noted that these markers underscore the drug's capacity to alleviate the severe burden of disease for this specific patient population. Following these results, Mirum Pharmaceuticals intends to file a supplemental new drug application in the United States during the first half of 2027.
