Roivant Sciences Shares Jump on Mosliciguat Trial Success

A 22% premarket surge greeted Roivant Sciences on Tuesday after the firm reported positive mid-stage data for its experimental pulmonary hypertension drug. The stock, already up nearly 60% this year, climbed to $42.68 following news that mosliciguat met its primary targets in patients suffering from interstitial lung disease.

The clinical trial demonstrated a statistically significant, placebo-adjusted reduction in pulmonary vascular resistance for those treated with mosliciguat. Beyond the primary endpoint, the company confirmed that all secondary goals of the study were also achieved. This drug targets pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease, a condition notorious for its high mortality rate and lack of viable treatment options.

Marc Humbert, director of the French National Reference Center for Pulmonary Hypertension, noted that the disease remains exceptionally difficult to manage due to its heterogeneous nature and the poor tolerance many patients show toward existing therapies. He characterized the new data as a major advancement, suggesting that mosliciguat could finally bridge a persistent gap in care for a vulnerable population.
