Investors pushed Getty Images shares to a 52-week low of 23 cents on Tuesday, a 5% intraday drop, following the company’s announcement that it would postpone interest payments for senior unsecured notes. The Seattle-based company confirmed it is utilizing a 30-day grace period for the September 1 payments to enhance financial flexibility. Despite the delay, management maintains that they hold sufficient cash reserves to cover operational obligations. This move comes as the company evaluates potential financing alternatives and broader balance-sheet-management initiatives.

Financial pressure has mounted since June, when Getty terminated its planned merger with Shutterstock due to U.K. regulatory constraints. Recent securities filings reveal that major stakeholders, including Mark Getty and Koch Inc., are actively engaged in discussions regarding liquidity and capital solutions. With second-quarter revenue dipping 2.5% to $229.1 million and total debt reaching $2.1 billion by late June, S&P Global Ratings downgraded the company in May, citing substantial costs stemming from litigation and failed merger efforts.
