Jennifer Taubert to Exit Johnson & Johnson After Two Decades

After twenty years at the helm of Johnson & Johnson’s pharmaceutical division, Jennifer Taubert is stepping down. The veteran executive, who has steered the company’s $60 billion innovative medicine business since 2018, will pass the leadership baton to Tom Cavanaugh, who is set to take over the role on September 1.

Jennifer Taubert to Exit Johnson & Johnson After Two Decades

Taubert joined the New Brunswick-based pharmaceutical giant in 2005 and has served on its executive committee for the past six years. Her departure marks a significant transition for the company, particularly as it navigates the performance of its core portfolio, which includes high-revenue treatments such as Darzalex, Tremfya, and Stelara. These products remain the engine of the business, generating $31.8 billion of the company's $49.4 billion in sales during the first half of this year.

Tom Cavanaugh, a company veteran who joined in 2017, currently oversees the firm’s North American innovative medicine operations. As he moves into the role of executive vice president and worldwide chairman, he will also assume Taubert’s seat on the executive committee. The shift signals a focus on continuity as the firm manages its primary drug development and commercialization strategy.
